Present Simple Tense

The Present Simple (also known as Simple Present or Present Indefinite) is a verb tense used to indicate habit, routine, facts or generalization. Less typically, the Present Simple can be used to discuss scheduled acts in the near future, as well as actions that are taking place right now.

The Present Simple is the base form of the verb.  For negative and interrogative sentences, the auxiliary verb DO must be present.

In the third person singular, -s or -es is added. For the pronouns He, She and It, we use DOES as auxiliary verb for negative and interrogative sentences.
